How to play Marquee

Marquee is a daily guess-the-quote game. A famous line from a film, TV show, book or play goes up on the sign as dark letter tiles. You can see how long every word is, and before you start we tell you where it comes from and the year.

Tap a letter. If it is in the line, it lights up everywhere it appears. If it is not, one of the eight bulbs goes out. Think you know it? Tap Solve and type the dark letters: the earlier you solve, the bigger your score, but a wrong solve costs a bulb too.

Once the line is up, the bonus round asks which film, show, book or play it is from, out of four choices.

Marquee FAQ

How is it scored?

A solve is worth 700, minus 75 for each bulb lost, plus 10 for every tile still dark when you solved (up to 300 more). It never scores less than 100. The bonus round adds 250, so the best day is 1,250.

Where do the quotes come from?

Short, well-known lines from films, TV series, books and plays, from the classics to recent favourites. Each one is checked word for word against a reliable source and credited when you finish.
