How to play Peardrop

Peardrop is a daily sort puzzle set in an old British sweet shop. Someone has knocked the shelves and every jar is a jumble of humbugs, pear drops, sherbet lemons, aniseed balls and more. Tap a jar to lift out its top sweets, then tap another jar to tip them in. Sweets only go onto the same kind of sweet or into an empty jar, and all the matching sweets on top move together, as many as will fit.

The twist is the jars. Most hold four sweets, but tall jars hold five, short jars three, the big sweetie jar six and the little dish only two. There are four of every sweet, so a short jar can never finish a kind: use it to juggle. The puzzle is done when every kind of sweet sits alone in one jar, and each finished jar gets its gingham lid and label.

Fewest pours wins. Undo is free, Restart puts everything back, and once a day you can borrow an empty jar from the back room for three extra moves. Every shelf is solved by our computer solver first, so we know the fewest pours possible: match it for three stars. The week climbs from an easy Monday to the Sunday big shop. A new shelf appears at midnight UK time, the same for everyone.

Peardrop FAQ

Can every puzzle be solved?

Yes. Every daily shelf and every level was solved by a search that proves the fewest pours, and the proof is kept. After you finish you can watch the fewest-pour solution play out.

Is it colour-blind friendly?

Yes. Every sweet has its own shape and pattern as well as its own colour: a pear, a striped pillow, a lemon, a ball, a ringed mint, a spiral, a twist, an octagon, a saucer, a cube, a heart and a wrapped toffee.

Can I play more than one a day?

Yes. The shelves hold 400 levels that climb from two kinds of sweet to twelve, with stars to earn. The calendar keeps the last seven daily shelves too.
