Unquote is a daily cryptoquote. A famous quotation has been put into a simple code: every letter has been swapped for another letter, and the same swap is used all the way through. If G stands for E once, it stands for E everywhere.
Tap a coded letter, then tap the letter you think it really is. Your guess fills in every matching letter at once. One letter is given free to get you going. Short words, apostrophes and double letters are the best way in: a lone letter is usually A or I, and a three-letter word is often THE or AND.
When every letter is filled in, press Check. The clock runs from the moment you start, and a new quotation appears every day at midnight UK time.
A quotation written in a substitution cipher: each letter is consistently replaced by a different one. No letter ever stands for itself.
They are short, well-known lines from films, TV series and books, from the classics to recent favourites, and before you start we tell you which of the three it comes from. Each is checked word for word against a reliable source and credited when you solve it.
You start on 1,000 points. Hints cost 100 each (you get up to five), a wrong check costs 25, and every two seconds costs 1. Solving always scores at least 100. Giving up shows you the answer and scores 0.
