The solved garden
The seeds: R1C1, R2C3, R3C7, R4C2, R5C4, R6C6, R7C8, R8C5 (R = row, C = column, counting from the top left). Every row, column and plot holds one seed, and no two seeds touch, not even diagonally.
A medium garden: Wednesday's puzzle. The hardest idea it needed was a square whose seed would leave a row, column or plot with no room. 100% of players finished it.
How to crack it: the first moves
- Every free square of the teal plot is in column 8, so the plot's seed must go there. Nothing else in column 8 can have one.
- A seed in the square in row 2, column 2 would leave the sage plot without enough room. So it stays empty.
- A seed in the square in row 4, column 5 would leave the sky plot without enough room. So it stays empty.
- A seed in the square in row 5, column 6 would leave the sky plot without enough room. So it stays empty.
- Every free square of the pink plot is in row 6, so the plot's seed must go there. Nothing else in row 6 can have one.
- Every free square of the sky plot is in row 5, so the plot's seed must go there. Nothing else in row 5 can have one.
Plots are named by their colour in the picture (sage, sunflower, lavender, coral, sky, pink, teal, sand). Every Sown garden can be solved this way, one deduction at a time, without guessing.
6 players took part on the day.
Today's puzzle is never shown here: a day's answer appears once that day's puzzle has closed. The last seven days can also be replayed for fun from the calendar in the game. New to Sown? Read how to play.
